It’s the vibration that’s made from styrofoam rubbing or biting on undercooked green beans. It can also come from walking on fresh snow. The vibration can almost be incapacitating like if a baby were crying in your spine.
Hmm I don't mind walking in snow but I know what your talking about. Especially with the green beans,it's kinda rubbery almost. No idea what it's called though. It's probably related to what ever the phobia/ism is that doesn't like the feeling/sound of nails on a chalk board. 🤔
You may like lemmy or kbin better if you have used twitter. From my understanding mastadon is like twitter, Lemmy is like reddit, and kbin is a weird mix of reddit and twitter. Personally I like kbin so far
Blaise Pascal, the philosopher born just over 400 years ago, made what is know as "Pascal's Wager" about the existence of #god.
He argued for betting on the existence of God. “If you win, you win everything; if you lose, you lose nothing,” he wrote, positing that although one cannot know for certain whether or not God exists, we are better off believing in God’s existence than not.
@TheConversationUS nope I would not. The sheer amount of things we have lost because some people believe in an imaginary friend that lives in the sky is mind numbing.
Witnesses report seeing globs of asphalt binder that spilled into Montana's Yellowstone River during a bridge collapse and train derailment on islands and the riverbanks a week after the spill.
This but should trains really be crashing at all? The fact that it's so frequent is a problem in if itself. I mean I get it shit happens but I mean c'mon.
Canada’s inflation rate decelerated to 3.4 per cent in the year up to May, Statistics Canada said Tuesday, led by sharply lower gasoline prices. But beneath the headline slowdown in consumer prices, many facets of the cost of living are still increasing at an eye-watering pace. Grocery prices went up at an almost nine per cent...
California’s many half-empty office buildings and vacant big-box stores may soon get new leases on life. Thanks to local and state efforts to loosen land-use laws, developers in California will soon find it much easier to convert commercial properties into apartments, condominiums and townhomes....
This means you can't pass the game around to your friends or sell it afterwards, which completely ruins the purpose of physical media imo. I mostly play PC these days so this doesn't affect me, but it's a disappointing direction for console games. At least they could've used an empty disc that has proof of ownership.
Sometimes a visual is nice just to help hammer home just how bad things have gotten in parts of the United States. We've got a lot of fighting left to do for trans rights.
Hmm I feel if you replaced conservatism with liberalism you have the same argument but from the right point of view.
Culture war just sounds like the war on drugs or the war on terror to me. Probably be how we waste the next 10 years with nothing to show for it except maybe being closer to extinction.
If you are usually a reddit lurker and are on here, it would be cool if you can try and engage with communities for a bit, just to try and get the ball rolling :)
I think it depends on what instance you are using? On kbin I just go to magazines type what im looking for in, click on what looks the most relevant and then hit the subscribe button on the right. Kind confusing because I see lemmy communites and some of them appear to not be what I can only describe as cross posting correctly.
Idk i've only been introduced to all this a few hours ago seems like there's lots of ongoing work for all instances though.
So Lemmy is an instance and kbin is an instance as well. Think of them as reddit as a whole. On kbin subreddits are called magazines. Idk how it works on Lemmy so much.
From my understanding threads can be federated between Lemmy and kbin. In other words you can subscribe to Lemmy "sub reddits" on kbin and visa versa. Kbin also let's you microblog in a magazine which is kind of like a tweet?
That all being said I may be wrong about some of that or have the terminology wrong so if anyone wants to correct me feel free haha
Kbin looks pretty and was the easiest for me to figure out coming from reddit. I still barely understand how it works though, microblogging looks cool though.
Is there a term for that unbearable vibration that comes from rubbing styrofoam together?
It’s the vibration that’s made from styrofoam rubbing or biting on undercooked green beans. It can also come from walking on fresh snow. The vibration can almost be incapacitating like if a baby were crying in your spine.

I’m new to mastodon, never had twitter. But I’m open to trying something new after leaving reddit....

If you could place any object on the surface of Mars, purely to confuse NASA scientists, what would it be?
For me i would just place like random paintings, like NASA would be very confused on why Mars would have paintings lmao.
