This is even worse here because there is the same community in multiple instances. Similar with seeing the same link or topic posted multiple times. In either case, some sort of grouping would be nice unless there is an extreme disagreement in different communities. EDIT, from another comment: it would be cool to swap different comment sections (link itself, tech take by user 1, etc) easier than an 'other discussions' tab.
Also it would be nice to have topic and language filtering.
If the same URL/topic is posted in multiple communities, I would like to see that they're different (like the title and thumbnail) and have a user's words to frame the discussion (I think that works better here, at least I remember needing to post a comment on a link post on the old site) rather than just the link. Otherwise, I don't see much value in it (at least while we're still at a point where low content means this happens commonly).
Even then, it would be cool to swap different comment sections (link itself, tech take by user 1, etc) easier than an 'other discussions' tab.
Remember that it won't delete comments from private subreddits. ("Wanna see me do it again?" when one opens back up, at least until the 30th hits)
Also the edit function doesn't seem to actually work (all my deleted comments are just [deleted]... and keep the original edited on date), that may be a technical issue I imagine best bet for that would be to edit-only before deleting your account itself.

I'm a person living in a rural area and have to either go by train, the nearest station being 15 mins away by car and the trains having a schedule that keeps fluctuating....
I'm in a somewhat rural area, but I'm a shut-in w/o a license or much money.
If wanted a car, I'd probably go for something like a Kei-truck for the utility/efficiency/value. Especially converting it to electric. (I'd get a Kei-van if I had friends). Also, NotJustBikes approves (see 7:35)
I have a cheap-but-has-gears compact ebike and live close to a trail, but honestly I use it for the outdoor activity first as the distance is annoying for a round-trip and there isn't much around especially me lacking a bike mirror and mobile GPS. Plus I do decide if I go based on weather.
Hello friends! Is there a lemmy community for roguelikes? I am, in this case, looking for a place focused on more traditional roguelikes (DCSS, CCDDA, BROGUE, etc)...
Not sure if it's just me, but I find many games tedious (often because hunger and inventory management). Difficult games are just a different kind of tedious than filler games.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is one, it does let you deal with things from many angles but I don't think it's good enough for unknown/cursed equipment. Especially as it's so easy to get screwed over (especially early on).
I play the (old) free alpha of Rogue Fable III on itch. It has a completely different feel, a lot more going on mechanically (skills/attributes, terrain) so it at least somewhat feels like more my fault when I lose.
Either way we both know I'm probably going to lose with unused potions/scrolls even if I got a good sword, but I probably will not have gotten suitable armor etc. either. And when I win it seems like I either got perfect luck or I found a way to (borderline) cheese the game (which I mean sometimes that may be intended, but it doesn't feel great to try again).
It does feel a bit chess-like but I feel like even 50% win rate is probably spreadsheet-level math or even digging into the code to understand mechanics better. Looking at the information given to the player, I am not sure how effective some perks are late-game especially (like the 1 point of shielding stuff), and even when trying certain classes it seems like one is usually objectively better (or at least more straightforward/reliable).
To me it seems more like blackjack because the card I uncover could allow more rounds (not unveiling it is a loss) or it could make me lose right then anyway. But it's also a game of attrition so some actions seem to just delay the inevitable. Also 1 game already takes hours so I'd rather not prolong it.
If it were my choice, I'd add multiple ways to identify equipment organically(/one-offs, grouped) and more quickly rather than just only having scrolls/equipping (maybe even a new NPC that'd work based on what you sell to them)... similar with equipped cursed stuff (potion effects, something with shopkeeper, or some option to destroy cursed item). Sad ghost's rewards would give info when picking OR it'd boost similar equipment (identify, de-curse, and +1) rather than giving you a dupe/lesser version. Situational ways to reveal things (such as the ability to use an unidentified scroll of rage at the sacrificial fire). Last unidentified potion/scroll should automatically identify (or allow you to do so via journal).
Information/curses aside, I'd make alchemize give free sales on shop floors (free energy conversion on alchemy pot floors). Crossbow would come with a few free darts (similar to 1+1 free)
Made a longer reply, won't show up. I get how many strategies there are but even 50% seems impossible unless you're doing spreadsheet stuff and making one game last an incredibly long time. And often the situation does not have many good options.
Though even if all equipment were identified (and other QoL stuff) it wouldn't change actual difficulty much.
2 recent posts I made were deleted with the reason "please refrain from cannibalposting" (link to the modlog). I don't get how this is a rule violation and I don't remember r/196 ever removing posts like that....
It doesn't seem to be actually illegal, so I think someone cute enough with the right science could (maybe) practice ethical cannibalism (if doctors could/would allow it). A hand-for-a-hand, with multiple interpretations (holding, robotic, rumblies, marriage). Money somewhat an issue now, less as tech advances/ages.
If someone paid for cryonic preservation of my head (also some legal stuff to hopefully ensure a good-context revival) they could have my defective meatbag. Well, death is still a legal issue here.
I'm sure if people actually did this it would cause a stink, but also I could see it being easy to get takers. Like any modest proposal, I guess. I can imagine some politicians would see it differently, demonizing its implications for the workforce (or comparing it to prostitution) rather than thinking/talking about why anyone would agree to such a thing.
Immortality? Probably not. Transfer? Probably also no.
Yes, if it were just my brain in a resilient robot body that can take care of my brain. Particularly with nerve connection (though contextual) and being able to exist in different forms easily (different sizes/environments, buildings, digital presence). Minisub or anything in space sounds like a fun time.
VR head-space too, particularly as a personal thing for down-time (use computer, practice skills, AI personality consultation), not a digital-real-estate thing.
If it were an option (no problem of money/law) I'd sign up for cryonics testing. Though I'd definitely want an anti-dystopia contract (hopefully with some science+pro-people+pro-environment institution) and probably wouldn't want my brain to be revived in USA.
I know about PixelFed, but I'm not interested in photo sharing social media style. I just want something that works like Imgur when you upload your images as private. Maybe PixelFed has that option?...
Imgur announced automated image blocking, no NSFW private images, plus purging of non-account images. None of it affected me, but it breaks stuff on the internet.
As a former redditor I am glad to have found a new "home" and I hope I'm not intruding. Does kbin have any equivalent to multireddits? If not, I think that should be added to the eventual TODO list.
TL;DR - See title...
OC Are links supposed to be duplicated?
Right now, I can see the same link several times on the front page, repeated across different magazines. Here's an example:...
reddit removing mods from subreddits (www.macrumors.com)
Isn't it ironic.... that we all left reddit because 3rd party apps were being killed off, and came to a place where there are no 3rd party apps.

I wouldn't. Immortality sounds miserable to me.
