This reminded me of the stroke in my teens, in coma dream I was told by what seemed to be a 4th dimensional person, I will survive but will die at the age of 42… or in ‘42 (2042). I can’t remember which, as I just suffered a massive stroke lol.
Now, I’m not one to believe in premonitions, but that coma dream has haunted me and I’m not even a spiritual person.
Okay, source I used was a little out of date (was looking at 2015 numbers, oops), but even the 2022 numbers disagree somewhat. OECD claims 77, CIA claims 78.
Maths understander here, in 2042 they’ll be 60, not 62. Also the average life expectancy in the US is around 77-78 years, i.e. enough of a difference compared to 60 that you could more or less fit (and live to see) a grandkid/great-grandkid’s entire childhood in there.
Although that 79 years figure is Life Expectancy at Birth, in practice it tends to be longer for most surviving adults older than a certain point, mostly because the lower ranges of the chart hit their allotted moment and pass on for whatever reason, leaving the remaining average higher still
Of course, with calculus living rent free in my head rn thanks to the uni course of the same name, I’m wondering what that chart of “current age vs expected remaining age” looks like, and where the point of “ageing faster than your remaining likely time grows” lies

That’s because 42 is the answer from the book hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy, and subconsciously could permeate your thoughts. Not because is in 42 years or when you’re 42.
Hate to disappoint, but I hadn’t heard of the franchise until 2005, due to the movie. As you might imagine, hearing 42 used in works like that would give me chills.
I’ve heard it referred to as meta-modernism. the writer and director for everything everywhere all at once liked using that term to describe the movie.
Sounds a bit like the “john dies at the end” series, I’ve heard it described other ways but I think of it as cosmic horror comedy
A good example of what things are like I feel is the start of chapter 9 at mcdonalds(if you stop there it won’t spoil anything) for the weirdness and then you have stuff like aiming a dog’s butt at people like a gun and it being a deadly threat
I absolutely LOVE John dies at the end, wish they would make movies out of the rest of the books. In the meantime, do you have any movie/TV recommendations that are similar?
