@actuallyautistic This morning I was called a yokel, a word I have not heard outside of old television in my lifetime until now—among other labels. When I asked them to clarify how they used yokel, the coworker identified many visible traits they had been noting since we met yesterday, paired with appearing young. I had the opportunity to correct them and let my skillset speak for me throughout the day. @audhd

@BZBrainz Interesting choice of insult, I think. Did they grasp the proper meaning of the word? What is their attitude now?@actuallyautistic @audhd

@Tooden @actuallyautistic @audhd End of week one, their attitude is different though I have not changed. I don't think they fully grasped the word's meaning, and if they were trying to be offensive, the word choice undermined the effort.

@BZBrainz Yep. Can't hurt, if you embrace the meaning you choose. @actuallyautistic @audhd
