With respect to and and there is often the question, whether one is oriented on small details or the broader picture.

Generally I am on the small details side. But I saw a post about systems thinking today. When it comes to technical problems like software, data flow or a scientific hypothesis, I have the feeling I have everything simultaneously in my mind. All the small details, but all at once.

sahat,

@Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic @audhd
that would be the hyperconnected brain, wouldn't it?
I'm not into any technical stuff, but I do the same with organizations, relationships, emotions, powerstructures. just any kind of system that takes place between groups of people . Plus the same thing as it happens inside of one person. emotional patterns, inner parts. It#s just patterns to me. Patterns, patterns, patterns. Pattern inside of patterns. And they are all obvious to me. Just so. All at once. At least as many as I can allow at the moment, without going into overload.
Actually, as I learned to take care of myself better and recognize how much Info I can process without going into a state of stress, the amount of info I can hold has been expanding. It's an ongoing process of finding my own authenticity and understanding my needs and unique reality.
Needless to say: it does not fit into any NT theory of how we now things. For NT it's simply spooky, unless they have an urgent need or pain, I may be equipped to help with. That may make them more accepting.
I feel I did unmask for myself. I can now admit all of this to myself and deal with it. I feel thoroughly grounded in my own being. Which Is a huuuuge improvement compared to where I was , say as a teen. Whether or not I mask to other people depends on the situation.

@Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic @audhd the whole small detail vs bigger picture paradigm is an allistic false dichotomy imo.
We tend to build our schemas in more depth. That's all it is. Once we know a system, we know both the bigger picture and the fine details, and we know the bigger picture better than allistics since our schema is much more thorough.

Thanks. That fit's, for the technical context I am thinking about, my experience.

It's sometimes like after an hour of discussion someone tries to draw a conclusion and I have to remind everybody that it's wrong, because of that detail.

It feels like that their focus of looking at the bigger picture is actually their inability to hold multiple fine grained details in mind in parallel.

@Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic @audhd it's like their mental models are missing all the minor variables. And its like yeah in most cases those minor variables don't matter but not always. And when those exceptions hit, their mental model fails utterly.

Our "bigger picture" is better because unlike theirs, it is complete!

@Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic @audhd anyway. You're welcome. Glad to hear it. 😄

Your system thinking discussion inspired me actually.

@Dr_Obvious @marytzu @actuallyautistic @audhd nods I used to think I was just "disloyal" at hobbies until I realised that what I was doing, and enjoying, was gaining a level of understanding about how something, or some system, worked. Once I knew that to a sufficient level I didn't feel as much of a need to continue.
It's also why I come back to hobbies later, when I realise there's some other part of the system I haven't seen yet.

@Jobob @marytzu @actuallyautistic @audhd
That's a real bummer sometimes. I attributed it just to hyperfixations that come and go.

So when discusding such things I often stumble over the problem that other people can't follow me. Because I see why one small change at one end, will break a thing on another end, sometimes even before I can name why.

This experience sounds like it doesn't fit at all in this dichotomy of insight levels. Do you experience similar things?
