Has anyone ever investigated how cats choose such gift places and where this comes from? (Sharing the prey?) I would like to learn to understand cats in their behaviour. Do I have to give a mouse back? 😸

Years ago I had a cat who often brought live mice into the house/bedroom in the middle of the night, only to sit down, wash her face, and watch me catching the mouse and bringing it outside. I got very good at catching mice. Always thought that was the intention of the cat 😂 .
@SnoopyCVa 😱 🤣 Wait, I still have a wolf researcher's book about a time in Alaska when he had no more food and invented recipes for "mouse à la crème" or "brochettes des souris". If anyone needs the recipes ... 😬 :blobcatknife:
My brother had a Siamese/tabby mix named Leo who did this sort of thing. He would leave dead (or not so dead) mice in my brother's shoes, under the rug, by his bed, etc. We were never sure if these were gifts or if Leo was playing pranks on him. Probably the latter 😸
