Here's the video for my fight against the final boss in #DarkSouls3.
It is not particularly pretty, I've been quite reckless because I was not really expecting to be able to beat it on the second attempt, so I was going into the fight kind of in a "let's get a hold on the moveset" mentality... Then as the fight progressed I realized I had chances and took it more seriously 😅😅
@el_gran_edu@mforester I think the translator must have thought we were talking about Sekiro 😂😂😂😂
I mean, the translation is serviceable but still really bad xD
There's an account in Mastodon posting stuff related to the lore of Lies of P in German which I get to read because I use Google Translate... Looks like LibreTranslate still needs some work xD
With Slave Knight Gael dead, I guess this is the end of the second #DarkSouls3 DLC, it's time to check out that final boss!
Gael has been a challenging boss, but not as much as Nameless King or Sister Friede. The extremely open space of the battle arena makes it very easy to get away from the most punishing attacks, each movement is very clearly telegraphed and have enough reaction time, so it was very easy to read (not so much to dodge!) and super fun to play
Ok, I've thrown fists with the Nameless King a couple of times and it hasn't ended well for me. I'm getting the hang of the first phase, but I'm still getting pounded in the second one.
But the guy doesn't seem completely unmanageable. I just need to be patient and time my actions carefully. I've dealt with worse.
@hk kinda glad to hear that he's been giving you trouble as well.
The Nameless King took me forever to beat and the way you breeze through Souls bosses makes me a bit jealous sometimes. 😅
Yet another boss bites the dust in #DarkSouls3! This time it's been the Twin Brothers.
All I can say is... I don't know how I managed to beat them. I did play poorly, I got too greedy too often, and received a lot of hits that could have been avoided. But I was careless. Still, I managed to inflict enough damage to get me to the end of the fight, and with that the last Lord of Cinder!
All right, Aldrich, Devourer of Gods is dead! As with many other FromSoft bosses, once you figure out the "trick", it's reasonably manageable.
For Aldrich the key turned out to be going full Leeroy Jenkins on it, dashing like mad towards the boss, maybe dodge one or two close-range hits, tank some damage, and punish before it teleports to the furthest corner of the room. Rinse and repeat... and here it is:
Here's the video of my fight against Pontiff Sulyvahn.
The big realisation, the turning tide in this combat, was finding out that the Pontiff's attacks could be parried. Which I didn't do particularly well, but enough to get me through the other end of the fight, so I'll take the win!
I managed to beat them on the second try and in the video it can be seen why I like my Executioner's Greatsword so much. Just look at how much health I'm chopping away with each hit...
@kaylee Yes please! I don't mind spoilers when they're about finding new areas.
Regarding the deacons, I enjoyed it but later I learned I missed a vital bit of info... I didn't notice the curse meter building up at the bottom of the screen while fighting! It was only after I finished that I thought "Huh, that bar's nearly full!", and only reading about the boss later I realized I was merely seconds away from insta-death by curse... But during the combat I didn't really feel the time pressure 😂
Made it to the Curse-Rotted Greatwood in #DarkSouls3. It's taking me ages to chip away bits of health, so I must be missing something. I've gotten it down to a quarter of its life, but it's quite infuriating taking five minutes to get there and then getting killed. But once I pop the bulbous things in the front, the fight gets suuuuper slow 😭
While I think about what to do with #DarkSouls3's frame rate issue on XBox One (stomach it and keep playing? buy the game again for PS5?) I'm going to go back to #Grandia and try to complete it for the #VGCJan2024
Just to check, there is no specific PS5 version, right? It's sold as a game for PS4 which runs on the PS5?
I also played Bloodborne on PS5 and was surprised by the occasional frame rate drops. And Elden Ring I played it on XBox One and it did run smoothly all the time, which is why I'm quite surprised by the poor optimization of DS3 for XBox One!
@hk it’s a PS4 version, and the PS5 uses the PS4 Pro settings, but has enough horsepower to actually deliver 60fps at every s
Bloodborne never got the Pro treatment :(
Even for Elden Ring, I downloaded the PS4 version on the PS5, which runs perfectly except for a few areas. The PS5 version rarely gets to 60. From can’t make a game that runs well on the hardware it’s designed for to save their lives 😅
As I'm playing #DarkSouls3 I can see clearly how the engine used both by that game and #Bloodborne is basically the same. The graphics, animations, and even the whole vibe are quite similar in so many aspects despite the differences in theme and setting.
