Please allow me to introduce myself. #Moby-Dick is the novelistic soundtrack of my life. The rest is #Dylan. #Dogs, #coffee, #books (especially #19th-century US lit) make me very happy. I write, think, and talk a lot about dementia, most recently a book with Dr. Bruce Miller of UCSF, Finding the Right Words: A Story of Literature, Grief, and the Brain (Johns Hopkins, 2021).
@CindyWeinstein I have made note of it for the future. I had a bad scare couple of years ago, convinced I had issues. Geriatrician declared I was over-medicated. An easy solution, though not a swift one. Good to have an excellent physician working with me.
@treleanor. I am SO glad you had an excellent doctor /geriatrician who was able to address the issue and that you are okay! How scary that must have been. Thank you for sharing.
@treleanor. And thanks for making a note of the book! By the way, there is a lot of excellent #neurology in there, courtesy of my co-author and brilliant #doctor, Bruce Miller.
@CindyWeinstein Last night I dreamed I spotted a book on my shelf, at first I thought it was a copy of "Le ton beau de Marot", by Douglas Hofstadter, but it was (in the dream) a new book by Hofstadter's daughter (dream-daughter, I've no idea about his real life).
Anyway, your book cover reminded me of that dream. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
@noplasticshower@CindyWeinstein Hofstadter is larger than life from my corner of the world. I can no more imagine a normal interaction with him than with Bowie.
@phaedral. That is a fascinating dream, and I am tickled (and most pleased) that my book cover first reminded you of a book by Douglas Hofstadter, and then by his daughter (fictional or otherwise). He has two children, Danny and Monica.
