Kid1 uses their blue steel (aogami) (#1 😳*) that I picked up at a hardware store in Shimabara #Japan to make short work of some cabbage for knife practice.
@wa7iut with knives (and fire), better to teach earlier. Less risky that way imo.
Tried to pass on to kids what I wish I had learned much earlier. Kids could wield knives before 10. Here's kid2 7 yrs ago pic tells me ! Needed a stool then.

hopefully it'll serve the kids well. They'll need to find the time to cook, but for now they are quite happy (preferring really) to eat whatever we cook rather than from out
