It's a shame that the Grace Hopper Convention couldn't have recognized the writing on the wall. While they've pulled out of Florida for future conventions, they're still using Florida for the upcoming one. Shame on them. There was tons of calls for them to pull out of Florida last year and they still didn't do it. They're putting some of their attendees at risk and that's unacceptable.
I'm sure it won't be too long before Florida starts feeling the pain. I'm a straight, white, midwesterner and I won't travel to Florida or Texas for any reason anymore due to their ignorant and hateful ideology. Fuck those states. I'm sure more states will be on the list as Republicans continue to "catch the car."
i feel ya. ive always wanted to see a rocket launch. as it is now id have to wait for the rare vandenburg launch. but stuff like this is why so much of the country, as beautiful as it is, is considered flyover. hopefully dems federally start doing something even if they cant get stuff past congress.
It’s already happening. People in farming and agriculture are losing workers and/or having a hard time finding new ones. Not everyone in that industry is Republican so they don’t all deserve to get burned. Not to mention, it drives up prices for regular people when fruit is out there rotting on the vine with no one to pick it. Lake Nona in central Florida is a mess after Disney pulled out. So much new construction has been happening there in anticipation.
DeSantis is a blatant racist and his treatment of the LGBT community is abhorrent. I don’t care what he says or that he appointed that quack surgeon general who happens to be black. He 100% behaves like a white supremacist and gives cover to closeted racists and homophobes who want to hide behind his “conservative” politics.
