Does anyone else just feel really, really good just being here? I am brand new and I ain’t going anywhere. Even with less content, or minor interface/web inconveniences (all of which are being addressed and that’s a pleasure to watch too) it feels like a community. Good vibes all around.
@VulcanSphere I felt like there was no point in contributing to reddit even before it was amidst its death throes. Not even upvoting really other than just to be polite. It's the polar opposite over here at kbin!
@MassiveCelebration78 I feel ya. It's exciting exploring the fediverse, which I had not even heard of before this week. It feels like exploring a new continent filled with possibility.
I should add, even though Reddit has its niche communities- overall Reddit never felt super connected for me. Always seemed like “Reddit” wasn’t what made it special (over time, it took away imo) but the people who put effort into making it engaging - curious - passionate. Here it has those same people but it’s built intentionally into the way it’s run, more integrity in the Fediverse - with more consideration for authority and less ego. And if I’m wrong so what? We live and learn, as individuals and as a collective. So imma ride the wave, it’s a good vibe right now. Thanks to the smart people who do good, you’re cool.
@MassiveCelebration78 it’s certainly an interesting time. I’ve been a Redditor for like… a decade and a half? Sad to see it dying, but everything is temporary.
