Nicenightforawalk,

How do I add that to my list as I have to keep scrolling and scrolling trying to get to the bottom to follow that channel and given up. Surely there is an easier way of following something

Press the cogwheel next to the federation icon (by default is on the right, under your username)

In the options select "Show Top bar"

Top right there is a link to "All"

I see you’re using Lemmy - you can view subscribed (posts on communities you’ve subscribed to), local (posts on communities hosted by your local instance), and all (posts from any federated instances).

Examples:

lemann,

Yep, depending on what app/site you’re using it’s called either All or Everything.

Should be near other buttons Local and Subscribed

alex,

More or less. You have an “all” feed showing every community that anyone in your instance follows, it’s as close as it gets.

mySFWaccount,

There should be an option for listing type. You can change between local and all.

So there is, just being a noob. Thanks. :)

mySFWaccount,

Welcome aboard!

mexicancartel,

More like local, subscriptions, and all

Flambo,

So is there truly not a way to view a "frontpage" of only my subscriptions? I haven't found one but thought I must just be a giant noob.

wheeldawg,

If you say what interface (browser or name of app) you’re using, someone can get more specific.

But what they’re trying to say is there are 3 main “feeds”.

1- is “all” which is the front page of everything from your instance and all the instances it’s federated with.

2- is “local” which is the front page of just your instance.

3- is “subscribed” which is the front page of all your subscriptions.

Now since I don’t necessarily use the same interface you do I can’t tell you exactly where to click. But go to wherever you go to see a list of all your subscribed communities and it should be an option, typically listed above, for these 3 options.

TheRealKuni,

Depending on what app or site you’re using, this is called “Home” or “Subscribed” or something similar.

For example, if you’re using a Lemmy instance and the app Voyager, in the Posts tab, clicking “Communities” brings you to a list of what you’re subscribed to, topped by three options: “Home,” “All,” and “Local.”

“Home” is all communities you are subscribed to (this is the “frontpage” you’re asking about). “All” is all communities from your instance and those federated with it. And “Local” is just communities from your instance.

Side note: because of the way federation works, All can have some cool uses. For example, there was a post a while back about how someone set up a Lemmy instance that has no local content, and is ONLY federated with instances that exclusively host porn communities. So a person with an account on that instance browsing “All” will only get NSFW content (sort of like an “All-NSFW,” something Reddit never implemented).

mexicancartel,

You can set any as frontpage. “Subscriptions” is what you are wanting as front page

Since you’re a Kbin user, you should go here. There’s a “Subscribed” button somewhere in the top right corner of your screen that’s meant to take you there.
