To me, “infinite universes” of fiction like #StarWars, and #Marvel etc. feel unsatisfying in the same way that LLMs do. They are systems which churn out new threads of narrative in vaguely the same style but always without any further substance than the original idea. That’s not say there’s not great artistry and craft in the individual efforts of those involved, but the overall system feels vacuous in the same way that asking #ChatGPT to continually write space operas would.

@andrewfeeney Also tends to suffer from Jedi Robe Syndrome, where because Obi-Wan wore dilapidated robes on tattooine, that defines the fashion of his entire Order as all the backstory is filled in.
