What's the point of Ofcom if it an't see an egregious breaking of rules?

@fkamiah17 As a long-term amateur radio enthusiast, I can certainly say that OFCOM is absolutely useless. Its main fodder is now not regulation but selling spectrum. When the Tories came to power, OFCOM had a 24/7/265 interference investigation service. Now, it won't investigate anything unless it affects aviation or shipping, pretty much.
The Tories wanted a country that has no regulations to there are no barriers to the elite getting richer. Sad to say that they have indeed succeeded.
@JanPV If I'm remembering correctly, didn't they appoint a crony as a head of Ofcom recently anyway?
It's much like other regulatory bodies - underfunded, and served too readily by the revolving door between business, politics and the entities they're supposed to be regulating.
@fkamiah17 The Tories were intent on appointing Paul Dacre! They were pretty insistent, but backed down eventually. I think another crony was then lined-up, but I've forgotten the story now.
The latest OFCOM classic is allowing Royal Mail to make more money by, erm, providing less service!
@JanPV Yeah, I remember the Paul Dacre thing - that was during Johnson's time, no? I think they tried to get him in there twice. I don't remember the story either now, so I'm guessing it's a crony, because when isn't it these days?
@fkamiah17 It happened just up the road from me. A friend applied to go on the show but was phoned by them and was asked what her question was. She said it was about aid to Gaza. They didn't sound impressed and unsurprisingly she was not invited to the show. I believe this is a clear breach of OFCOM rules...
