@ai6yr interestingly enough, I learned yesterday while doing genealogy that one of my granddaughter's paternal ancestors died in that fire....(of course, now that I want to find out who it was, I can't find the entry...smh...) If I remember right, it was a descendant of Pres John Q Adams or his wife...still looking... lol..
@ai6yr The thing that always amused me (not that there's anything funny about the fire) about the story was that it made zero sense for a woman to go milk her cow at 9 o'clock at night. That's a morning chore, as I understand it. Hatred of the Irish was so strong, that people accepted that story despite it making zero sense.
