Major evacuations, out of control wildfires, and Axios (unsurprisingly) leads with U.S. air quality. (sorry, Canadians... Americans are bad at the "caring about people in other countries" part, even across the Canadian border).
It's happening for a second straight year: Dozens of wildfires are burning across Canada and sending unhealthy smoke blowing into the northern U.S., and at the same time, the southeastern U.S. is getting smoke from fires in Mexico.
If you know of resources in your area of the US related to wildfire smoke mitigation like:
-places or organizations giving out free KN95s or air filters
-places where people can go to get out of the smoke
then please let me know and I will add that information to the doc! I'm also looking for resources on actions people can take to mitigate climate change, preferably actions they can take immediately (petitions people can sign, actions they can go to in the near future, that kind of thing), but that is a secondary goal.
" #Wildfires have led Environment #Canada to issue air quality advisories for parts of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories, as forecasters warn the #smoke could drift farther east.
According to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre(opens in a new tab), there are currently 138 active wildfires across the country, including 40 that are considered "out of control." "
