It appears that some universities are banning masks of any kind at sites where they are holding their graduation ceremony. This is ableist, exclusionary, and completely unacceptable.

reflecting on the bear-or-man discourse

and thinking about how my good dog protected me, over the years, from both bears and men

she faced down my violent ex-husband when he tried to kick in the door of my house

and a bear that tried to walk through our camp one night, up the Skok

and this makes me think that really what women need isn't an array of bad choices

it's to be supported so that we have the freedom and resources to be out in the world safely

also, dogs are pretty great

I am supposed to get in thirty minutes of heart-pounding exercise three days a week. I still needed one more day, so I ran down to the wildlife refuge, and since the trail was flat, I walked as fast as I could in the loose gravel. Maybe it wasn't quite heart-pounding, but it was a couple of miles.
We will call it good enough.
I left Summer in charge of things at home.

@NorcalGma2 BTW a few years before a milestone Bday my primary care doc wanted me to do some heart pounding exercise. After considering it, I thought it was on his checklist of things to ask me about/encourage. This strikes me more so after my milestone bday. Might this be an insurance or Medicare advantage plan finagling?

I am almost finished with this week's blog post.

Meanwhile, my 3-year old neice (grand niece? what do I call my niece's daughter?) taught me to play hide and seek.

Here's how:

💠 I tell her where I'll hide.
💠She closes her eyes and counts to 10.
💠When she reaches 10, she opens her eyes and looks for me.
💠It does't take long to find me.
💠Then we laugh.

I suspect I am supposed to tell her where I will hide so she doesn't feel scared when she opens her eyes and doesn't see me.

Bear is still high :/ He didn’t sleep at all last night, or today. He has to be in contact with me at all times, if I stand up he’s twining around my ankles, if I sit down he’s either on my lap or sitting on my feet. But he wouldn’t come to bed last night. And he can’t stop making biscuits, his little hands and wrists are going to be sore. I hope it wears off soon. Fern keeps hissing at him because he smells wrong and acts wrong, she probably thinks he’s a doppelgänger. #cats #catsofmastodon

Slumlord management is planning on spraying Roundup because delaying on maintenance and only mowing maybe 2x a year is still too much work for them. They'd rather spray herbicide everywhere...
