Seems to be massive disconnect between the #AI hype pushed in the #KubeCon key notes vs. what the audience actually cares about. I don’t think I ever heard this many people complaining about them in the past.
@anderseknert
From my perspective, AI is where it is because of the unbridled push to make bigger and better and more powerful models with billions of parameters.
However, there's still very few places where such AI would be the best option and the requirements to run LLMs in cloud isn't justified by the use-cases.
@AlexB yeah, that’s pretty much what I was trying to get at. Not saying AI isn’t helpful for some tasks, it’s just not helpful for what most of us are here for.
@AlexB@anderseknert I wish they had use AI and data to better organize this event and predict also which talks would get most popular just to book bigger rooms for those. I can't believe there were so little room anticipated for some of the biggest and popular topics.
@MorganGeek@AlexB I agree, but they wouldn’t need AI for that. Just people somewhat connected to the audience who paid to go here.
I talked at one of these events in the past where the number of people who had “signed up” via the agenda UI was 3 times the number of people the room would fit. A week before the talk.
