Hey maybe it was a long day for the car and it was tired OK? It happens, no need to broadcast this info ffs. I swear to God, I’m not surhuman, sometimes these thing happen
I saw a video of the Chinese EV show, honestly the big show stoppers are awful. They all want to be Tesla and are adding a billion points of failure. Even Tesla learned having a door handle that requires 9 sensors is terrible design.
And everything needs a touch screen. If I didn’t know better, I’d say this was a conspiracy to keep car dealerships in business on the service side, since EVs in theory, need less maintenance.
I’ve recently test driven far too many cars before pulling the trigger on my midlife crisis car.
The amount of new cars with shit tablets you won’t be able to easily replace in the future is astounding. You should’ve seen my face when I borrowed my neighbors Tesla and it didn’t even have CarPlay. I was just picturing myself sawing a hole in the dash to fit a double din.
I’ve settled on a 718 cayman but all the dealers I’ve called/met basically put me on a waiting list but said don’t get my hopes up on an allocation. So now I’m just looking for a used GTS that’s not extortion pricing.
I love Miata’s! I used to hang out with a couple guys who did meetups next to where I live at “Tail of the Dragon”
The Chinese own Volvo Cars, which is a big employer in Sweden, so they have quite some leverage with the government.
Mencedes Benz, BMW and VW sell most of their cars to China, they know that this will be impossible once China closes their market. And those car manufacturers again are the biggest employers in Germany.
People are rightfully criticizing the hypocrisy of U.S protectionism while touting ‘free market capitalism’ which they have used as a cudgel to inflict their imperialism on the rest of the world.
People who can’t see this probably think their U.S is a bastion of freedoms and democracy.
Hey, always remember, Biden doesn’t do all the things, don’t forget to vote for your LOCAL politicians, best we can do. Always remember it’s all the government not just one guy.
I’ve never actually seen any Chinese EV cars in the States unless you count like, Volvo. (BYDs and MGs are getting quite popular in Australia though), so this tariff looks to be more political posturing than anything else.
BYD electric busses are made right outside Los Angeles, so they wouldn’t be subjected to the tariff at all, but that’s a whole other can of worms.
The US can afford to impose sanctions, as they don’t sell a lot of cars in China anyway. For most German car makers China is the most important market, though. If China retaliates, they’ll lose out even more than if they actually face up to the competition.
I don’t understand why there are some people down voting you. The US auto industry products are relics from the 20th century and protecting it will make it worse. They’ll still lose the global auto market.
