clay_pidgin, in 'Clint' by Clint Langley for the Battletech Card Game

It looks so much cooler here than it actually is!

JayleneSlide, in ′Mech Manual: Timber Wolf TC

When I think 'mech, the Timber Wolf is what leaps to mind. Well, that and the Marauder, despite all of its issues.

Oh I really like how those look.

Jorgumander, in We march for The Dragon!

Those look super cool!

BigilusDickilus, in We march for The Dragon!

Is it the Griffin?

Are you considering throwing a wash in there to pick up some of the nice lines on the models?

GlitchyDigiBun,

I used speedpaints. The camera makes them seem more uniform than they are in person. They have a wash, basecoat, and some highlights.

Edit: also yes. It is the Griffin

I’m terrible with names, but I’m pretty sure the boy in the top left back is metal. The panel style and less dynamic feet make me think so.

I oopsed the Lancelot cockpit…

Clasm, in Get an Introduction to an Awesome Game with Battletech: A Game of Armored Combat

This is perfect! I was just thinking about getting the beginner box, but I might go with the Alpha Strike book and a couple of mech minis instead.

StraySojourner,

Alpha Strike is definitely more my speed. The rules are more streamlined letting you get more minis on the table or have quicker games and while they do kind of remove some of the uniqueness of Mechs they also make a bunch of Mechs that would never be viable absolutely playable.

radian, in Technically crossover content

A Knight at most.

That’s awesome, and I really dig the urban terrain on your board!

With regard to the 5J: the SSRM-2 is just a weird weapon system in the first place. If you’re not using fractional accounting, the minimum investment is 1.5 tons and 1 crit for the weapon and 1 ton and 1 crit for 50 shots, for a weapon that deals 4 damage for 2 heat at the same range as a medium laser. That same humble medium laser is 1 ton, 1 crit, 5 damage, and 3 heat.

The only reasonable use for these tiny SRM systems is for missions where mass, volume, or longevity is a concern… but the medium laser has less mass, less volume, and perfect longevity. The single additional point of heat can be made up for with a heat sink that fits neatly where the ammo would otherwise be, and now you’ve saved half a ton overall.

Who is this weapon system for?

Edit: I guess the main benefit is if your 'mech is not heat neutral then you save heat on turns that the SSRM doesn’t acquire a lock, but if saving 2 heat when you miss is a noticeable benefit I feel like you have other problems. It makes more sense with the larger launchers.

I mean, Atlas was a titan.

I’m gonna need an STL for that.

Landsharkgun, in Couple lances' worth of Liao mechs

For the glory of Capella!

I love the ?Commando? (third from the right) with his geeky little head stripe. Perfect.

antaymonkey,

Whitworth! :)

Putting some dirt on the feet is always an appreciated small touch. I really dig this whole lance!

antaymonkey,

Thanks!
