I think I must be pretty depressed recently because I live in a fog and cant think of anything good. I’m pretty sure I wanted to do something to day and I’ll be damned if I can remember what it was now. My brain is a fart atm.
That’s a bummer! Inability to concentrate is one of depression symptoms, so it’s very possible. My brain also turns to one big fart when I’m down. I hope you remember what you wanted to do!
We are having the opposite problem. Are you old enough to remember the smothers brothers and the spinning plates? That’s how I feel. I can’t shut my brain down.
I started a keto diet because my doctor recommended limiting sugar, and I can’t do moderation. I’d rather have no carbs at all (well, 20 grams of carbs a day). There are pilot studies showing keto can be good for bipolar, so I’m kind of excited to see what it does for me. So far, so good, but I’m only 2 weeks in. Wish me luck!
I don’t have a link, but I think they are finding that it only affects some people with certain genetic makers. That might be a large number, but I wasn’t included 🫤, so when I tried it, it did a whole lot of nothing for me. I hope it works for you though!
I hope it works for you! I did a year or so of keto to lose weight and I felt great. Unfortunately I Iost too much weight and I’ve been struggling to find a good dietary balance ever since.
Glad to hear it worked for you, but it really sucks you can’t find what works now! I hope you find something that keeps you balanced and well-nourished.
My dad keeps going on about starting keto, and christ knows I could lose the weight. Of course he comes at it from the “lobster guy” angle, which I admit turns me all the way the fuck off.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but I did lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks. It’s easier than I thought it would be in terms of cravings, but I did have to buy a whole bunch of new food, and more meat, so it’s been more expensive so far.
In that case, more or less yes. It’s supposed to help you grow new neural connections. Although we are still just learning exactly how it works in its entirety.
I was reading about the Wahls Protocol (kind of paleo, if I’m reading correctly), and now keto. I honestly don’t like them. I like my potatoes, my tomatoes, corn, fruits, etc. But I might try a balance between my starchy and sweet foods and these diets and see what happens. Just slowly because depressive episodes and executive dysfunction make changes difficult 🐢
It’s definitely not for everyone. I just started keto last week on my doctor’s recommendation, and it’s been great for me, but I can see it being a nightmare for others. I apparently have a gluten sensitivity because my intestinal issues are basically gone in one week, and the only change is not eating any gluten. And I am finding it surprisingly easy to not eat carbs, but again, that’s me. And it’s only been a week - check in with me in a month when I’m dying for some pasta, lol.
I use Daylio because I started there years ago and I don’t want to lose all the data.
I have used and liked eMoods. I even donated because I liked that it is designed for bipolar disorder. In regular mood tracking apps, “happy” is the highest and there’s no manic range, so one has to improvise a scale. eMoods doesn’t have this problem.
Another one made for BD is Bipolar UK Mood Tracker. I have always found their bipolar mood scale useful, so I remember enjoying the app.
And lastly, UP! also contemplates mania. I didn’t like it as much as the others because I felt it had too many elements (this was years ago, though); but one useful thing is that if you track too many high or low moods, it sends you a notification with a warning. That’s nice.
My 4th and 5th attempts to find a therapist this year failed, but my psychiatrist said I’m one of their favorite patients, so I have that going for me.
Sometimes humor is all we have… I’m sorry to hear about your bad luck in finding a therapist, I know it can be really difficult to find the right fit. I hope you have better luck in the future, if you choose to keep searching.
Been waking up before my alarm for the last week. Mostly like 430am but once 330am. My alarm is set for 6am M-F. I attribute it to the increased daylight and reduced time with “night” before bed. Hope my rhythm adjusts soon.
I use pixels. It’s as simple as clicking on a color coded face, and then that color is used to shade the day on the calendar so you can see bigger trends. There’s a note section if you really want to add detail/notes or tags, but it’s not required.
