Any sci-fi with aliens where humans are not the less advanced race?
What the title says, I’m tired of the trope where humans are the least advanced in the universe.
I’d like to read something different where we’re the more advanced ones (not necessarily the most advanced). As an example I quite enjoyed the Ender’s Game sequels and the angle of us being the more advanced ones was quite interesting.
I don’t read much sci-fi, especially with aliens, but one that comes to mind is The Forever War.
The Forever War is about a war between humans and an alien species; due to the great distances that human (and alien) ships have to travel to reach their destinations, some journeys might take dozens or even hundred of years (but only a few weeks or months from the crew’s point of view). This means that a ship/crew’s tech level will depend on when they left base, and the same is true for the aliens; as a result, in some battles the humans will be the more advanced species, and in others the aliens are.
It is military sci-fi, so it focuses quite a bit on the military aspects, but it doesn’t tell you a lot about the aliens culture or technology as far as I remember.
We are legion (we are bob) Dennis Taylor. A human brain gets turned into an AI space probe that basically becomes a benevolent Shepard of mankind as humans colonize space.
