@hembrow How are velomobiles on snow and ice? I don’t love riding on the slippery stuff on a diamond frame, but it seems like the risk in a velomobile would be pretty minimal.
@dx@hembrow probably hard to get traction on one wheel if the front two dig in, but at least it just slides sideways rather than slipping completely out from under you.
@enobacon@dx@hembrow Many years ago on a kick scooter traveling over a grease patch in front of a restaurant had the kick scooter slide out from me and ended up on the ground. I wondered if being on a bike would have been safer as there would have been much less side force.
@enobacon@dx If you've sunk into snow that will of course stop you. But otherwise velomobiles work very well with snow and ice. The potential danger is losing traction with the rear wheel as that keeps you going in the right direction so I sometimes use a studded tyre at the back. It can be fun to slide a bit sideways but if you run out of slippy stuff you can flip the machine over if you're heading sideways.
