noticably more work, as you’d expect. the variable assist doesn’t like this kind of load, but the fixed-assist modes all worked fine. so it was mostly a matter of more time in the highest level of assist up our fuckoff steep hill.
I also very definitely want a stand or better yet a wheel of some kind on the front for load balancing.
other notes: got a what-am-I-seeing long stare from an older woman on the way home; I saluted her and she waved and kept staring
very much need to be attentive about kickstand torque when loaded up. nothing I hadn’t seen before but still. (see also: front wheel. Or wheels? maybe, idk)
I am SO PLEASED BY THIS you have no idea. This is EXACTLY the kind of use case I was thinking about when trying to figure out what to build/adapt for cargo. It's light but it's large - way too big for any pannier bag or basket, and it's not something you'd want to walk just because of distance. (Thanks to recent improvements, it is actually doable, but.)
Strapping it to a backpack or something might have been possible but would've been a terrible top-heavy idea, so this would've been a car trip or no trip.
Instead? It was trivial. I mean seriously easy peasy and now I have a shop heater. :D
@depereo i want to get ahold of another couple of wheels somewhere for weight balancing, definitely. Ideally off a dead/damaged trailer, as you'd expect.
The fabric was leftover from other projects, too. (Or so I suspect in the case of the orange - "Pumpkin! It's clearly pumpkin!" - a project abandoned. I have no idea why I have it. The purple is leftover from a project I actually did. xD )
