NounsAndWords,

“Our principles do not have a price tag, nor will they be compromised — ever,” her note continued. “And no matter how hard they try, we will not be distracted by sideline critics who don’t understand our mission.”

“You couldn’t pay us to stop hating on minorities. It’s a part of our mission.”

Jimmyeatsausage,

“Not just our mission…its a part of who we are.”

All this flowery, manipulative corpo-speak is enough to make me gag. I wish she'd just get boneitis already and put herself out of our misery.

Pons_Aelius,

She is getting paid a minimum of 6 million per year.

She will agree with EM till hell freezes over to keep that gravy train rolling down the tracks.

Not crazy just venal.

Venal: (adjective) Open to bribery; mercenary. Obtainable for a price.

slimarev92,

Also she’s a huge Trumper apparently.

ArugulaZ,
ArugulaZ avatar

In other words, garbage.

FlyingSquid,

This was an internal memo, not one for the public to see. She could easily have reassured the staff that Musk’s words wouldn’t hurt the company, but instead she praised him for what he said. She used to be a Trump appointee. She loves Elon and his crazy ideas.

Lanusensei87,
@Lanusensei87@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t be surprised if she wrote this with the potential (or more likely, certainty) of a leak on mind.

Very_Bad_Janet,

Yes but this internal memo was "leaked" - I have a hunch she leaked it herself, possibly to ensure that she remains in Musk's good graces. Or to show future employers how loyal she can be and how readily/deftly she can spin. I.e., it's an advertisement for herself.

Pons_Aelius,

Just because it is internal does not mean she will drop the cheerleading facade. I have worked in large corps and this is totally on brand for the bullshit that gets passed around as staff motivation/ justification for batshit management decisions.

Quite simply we will never know if she actually believes this shit as we are not part of the in group.

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

The article really seems to go against what you’re saying.

Pons_Aelius,

The person writing the article is not part of the in group either...

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

That’s a really poor argument considering the article’s contents. I’m starting to think you didn’t actually read it.

vithigar,

I read the article and I think the argument is fine. They play up not knowing why she’s supporting Musk, but six million dollars is six million dollars.

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

So you think she was being paid peanuts at NBCUniversal and left to join a sinking ship in the hopes of making more money? That doesn’t seem especially rational of someone. But it makes a lot more sense if instead, they worship Musk and think he’s changing the world.

Slowy,
@Slowy@lemmy.world avatar

I forget where I found it but there was a long article about her backstory, with interviews from her old colleagues at NBCU, where they made it very clear one of her own major personal goals was to be a CEO of some company, and in general she just thirsts after power and status. In addition she was painted as very spicy/short fused with her employees.

nnullzz,

I’ve worked with big companies during big mergers. The higher ups don’t see a sinking ship. They see money and opportunity, regardless of how far from reality that really is. Maybe you and I consider that irrational, but with these people, most of their actions are not driven by rationale.

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I guess, but as the article says, even her colleagues are begging her to leave Twitter and she isn’t listening. I don’t know why people find it so hard to believe that she’s yet another Musk sycophant. Especially since she’s MAGA.

PupBiru,
PupBiru avatar

i don’t think anyone finds it hard to believe, just that there could be multiple justifications… assumptions are never good, and pointing out that $6m/y is a pretty good alternative justification

… also, it could easily be both

Makes sense to me... she's a marketing executive. Her bread and butter and life's work is bullshitting people.

PrinceWith999Enemies,

Let’s see if her next gig is on Dancing With The Stars after Twitter finishes its crash and burn.

state_electrician,

TIL I’m venal. For 6 million buckaroos I’d be open to shill some stupid shit too.

NounsAndWords,

I’m halfways with you for the first like…few million, but after you’re already rich, do you really want to be jerking off Elon Musk every day for a living?

state_electrician,

No, of course not. But I know the gravy train will definitely stop in the near future, so I’d ride it out. I guess she’s thinking the same.

NounsAndWords,

She’s a former Trump appointee. She’s selling the Kool-Aid.

FlexibleToast,

I’m with you. I could do it for a year and retire.

Maeve,

Fiddling while the planet burns.

Endorkend,
Endorkend avatar

She has a great deal.

Gets paid millions and once she's out, she can just blame Musk for Twitters downfall.

AllonzeeLV,

TIL America’s core value can be summed up in a single word: Venality.

The few that were successful at selling out others to get rich, and the many that wish they had such an opportunity.

Maeve,

Clear and concise, you are spot on.

Reality_Suit,

His dumbass can’t even understand bullet trains. He’s not smart, he’s rich. Don’t confuse the two.

Modva,

Musk is playing fast and loose with their future, saying things that by his own admission may result in the death of the company.

If I was a working person, supporting a family, working at that time bomb would not be a wise choice.

fosforus,

Twitter average salary is $117k / year + 17k bonus. Seems like an ok job.

Modva,

I wasn’t referring to salary but stability. If Musk’s comments about company death are anything to go by.

squiblet,
squiblet avatar

That's fairly low for software engineers in California. Companies like Google and Facebook pay 2-4x plus (I'd imagine Twitter does too, and that's just a straight average for all employees including cleaning staff etc). Glassdoor says software engineer salaries range from 200-280k a year.

Toxic environments and uncertainty take their toll. I wouldn't want to have a boss as impulsive as Elron, and at this point I'd feel like Twitter wouldn't look great on a resume. The tech jobs market isn't easy lately, though, after the pandemic/zero interest loan period ended and mass layoffs came into fashion (partly due to Elron's example).

fosforus,

It’s a global company, certainly the average is higher in, say, San Fransisco: glassdoor.com/…/Twitter-San-Francisco-Salaries-EI…

Toxic environments and uncertainty take their toll.

This is true. If it indeed is/has become toxic, the amount of money needed to compensate for that is much more than double.

Treczoks,

The employees should be proud to work for a loony right-winger? That’s a bit of a “magnitude” I would no longer share if I was working there. For me, those still-employees have lost any remaining respect.

Cqrd,

Shouldn’t this community be called just Muskspam? Or is it some sarcastic joke I’m missing as spamming about Musk is all you do here?

reddig33,

People got tired of fawning posts about Elon Musk appearing all over social media including random subs on Reddit and Lemmy. The counterpoint was “enough Musk spam” as in “stop spamming every sub with pro-musk propaganda we are sick of seeing this bullshit”.

ttmrichter,
@ttmrichter@lemmy.world avatar

Perhaps reading the introduction to the right of the community might have cleared up your confusion?

squiblet,
squiblet avatar

it means "we have had enough with the Musk spam", as in "we've already seen too much, shut up with it". A community of the same name exists on reddit.

elgordio,

please take the time to absorb the magnitude and importance of what we’re all a part of

What that then? A fairly uninteresting and underperforming social media platform that hasn’t grown in years and is now falling apart. Woo, such importance.

PrincessLeiasCat,

lol yeah - that’s where I had to stop reading. That’s some Dear Leader levels of bullshit.

Send_me_nude_girls,

I’m so tempted to disable my AdBlock on X and write all those companies, with screenshot of illegal activities, on what they are advertising at. All to speed up this whole Musk exodus process.

Can't do that! Muskie will sue you! (Note that his claims in this are absurd, of course)
