tangram- this app actually changed my entire workflow

Tangram is a browser for your pinned tabs. What this means is that I can put all my frequently visited websites in an app and have the ability to view them all with great ease. Before I was signing into everything each time I needed to check it but now I just switch to my workspace that has tangram open. I use mine for email, discord, and matrix. As a tab hoarder it’s also quite nice in how it clears up many of my tabs.

suprjami,

I gave Tangram and Ferdium a look but the rendering engine they use is awful and makes my eyes hurt. Old Chrome/Chromium used to have the same problem years ago. I’ll stick to Librewolf pinned tabs.

Oh man this sounds like a security and privacy risk

Why? No more so than a normal browser.

It’s good to setup your browser to delete everything when you close it. And to use containers in Firefox that isolate some dangerous websites like Google or Facebook in a silo.

Lemongrab,

Does it use your browser config? If not what engine does it default.

I loved using Tangram but there was an update months ago that changed how the tab column on the left hand side worked. It started taking up a quarter of the view, which wasn’t great. So I stopped using it.

I discovered Ferdium recently and am happy with that.

_who_was_phone_,

How is this different from Ferdi(um)?

I think they do about the same thing.

Kissaki,

I’m a bit confused. Did you set up your browser to clear your sessions on exit?

Regular Browsers have pinned tabs too, so what makes Tangram different?

Yeah, I use librewolf which does that. However I also like this because it’s a totally separate app so I can just swipe with three fingers between my workspaces to access it.

I assume this app is like Native Alpha, Hermit, and Vivaldi web apps?

Never heard of them but quick research makes me think sorta. These all seem to be mobile apps but this is for linux desktop. It keeps all these sites in one app as opposed to just making a desktop shortcut.

Lemongrab,

Ik linux mint has a webapp manager preinstalled. If this is anything like webapps then neato.
