I didn’t make any changes in the project settings or something, but I did change some GDScript. After I did that, every time I open a different scene in the scene dock the Engine crashes. This right here is the backtrace:...
I have tried myself at using Expressions for quickly throwing together some simple functionality right in the editor, without opening the script editor. I just export an array of Strings. But apparently assignment is not allowed in these expressions! Method calls are fine, but assignment doesn’t seem to be okay. Here is what...
Child Polygon2Ds of a nav mesh by default act as obstacles, so the nav mesh avoids them. However, I just want to use the Polygon2D as the source for the nav region and remain its own node so I can do stuff like, modulate it when the player hovers over it with their cursor.
Hello there, I’m Emi from the Godot Foundation. Someone from this community made a PR long time ago about adding the lemmy community card. I’m wondering if there is someone willing to take over the PR so we can add you as a community supported community: github.com/godotengine/godot-website/pull/662...
Is there any way to run a given string at runtime? I have tried to write something like this by creating a new node and attaching a new script to it, and I have gotten this far:...
Before the humble bundle came out, I bought the GameDev.tv “complete” Godot course - I had a good early bird discount since I’ve used them for Unity....
Hi! I’ve been making games for a little while, though nothing too fancy - mostly mobile platformers, delivery games, and visual novels. I recently moved from Unity to Godot and finished the “Complete” Godot 2D course on Gamedev.tv....
Wanted some opinions on ways to set up triggering “on-kill” effects. In short: The player can have abilities that trigger effects whenever they shoot and kill an enemy. I’m also looking to extend abilities to enemies as well, so can’t just hardcode a player reference....
Is there something like a node ID which is specific to that node and will be the same no matter how often I execute the game? That would be super useful for saving and loading games.
I have this problem that every time I type this character ’ the entire engine doesn’t let me type any more. The entire keyboard stops working, and even shortcuts stop working. The mouse still works fine. I have to reloasd the project to fix this. Has anyone else had this issue before? (Running Debian 12)
Pictured: My Godot 4 game running on CrazyGames. This was previously impossible because most websites don’t support SharedArrayBuffers/CrossOriginIsolation, which was required to run Godot on the web....
If you ever wanted to make a game using visibility masking like the classic horror survival game Darkwood, then this demo is for you! In the readme I go over how it works as well as some pitfalls I’ve found along the way....
I’m working on a game which involves characters doing path-finding and interacting with each other. My first impulse was to use navigationagent3d for this, but I’m running into issues which may or may not be related to my current understanding of the usefulness and intended purposes of naviagtion agents....
Do the multiplayer nodes essentially just function like if I was using RPCs to sync the properties, or do they have anything more nuanced like some sort of lag compensation?
I’m making a game in Godot 4 and I have something bound to the B key, problem is that if I press the B key while holding ctrl (sprint in my game) it launches a system shortcut bounded to ctrl + b. How can I stop the game inputs from activating a system shortcut?
I’m just starting out with Godot and I’ve run into some strange or unwanted behaviors. Maybe some of you can help me fix them. I’m currently running Godot on arch linux with x11/i3 as my desktop environment....
When I start my project (in the editor) I now get a big block of errors, mostly complaining about me overwriting sime Base Godot Classes (which is false)… Has someone here had this issue before? Here are the errors I am getting: drive.google.com/file/d/…/view?usp=drive_link
My background is backend development with Java and Kotlin for the last decade. I have a little bit of HTML/JS experience but I’m not a pro. I would like to build a modern Sierra game, of sorts....
