That inspired me to try it too, and it’s really cool! In just 2 hours I got my player running around, jumping, etc. I didn’t expect it would be quite so easy:
I have the assets from a previous attempt to write it in JavaScript from scratch chuck-game.tumblr.com/about which failed because of something in the physics engine crashing the whole browser for the players.
@godotengine@godot Really hoping this is an easy fix. The attached photo is the only 3D image I can get. I can't get the grid to appear (Show Grid box is enabled) or any gizmos. Any mesh I add doesn't appear. I can switch views (top, right, etc) and add a camera and switch to that view. I can change the sky and ground and light color. But that's it. Hoping I'm an idiot and it's an easy fix. Any insight would be appreciated.
@godot's timing on announcing the development fund is just chef's kiss. The landing page was out there without announcement for some time, I guess they simply took the opportunity as they should have :)
@prokoudine the epic article mention they had some discussions with game companies that were not happy about the proposal, maybe it’s not a coincidence that Godot was ready? (I don’t think so but the idea is entertaining)
I’ve been working on 4 for about a month now, learning while doing, and being able to set up logic within the AnimationPlayer is one of the best things I’ve learned so far. It greatly reduced my need for Timer nodes
