I_Like_Books, "Accessing abortion services in Finland is set to become easier from 1 September as a long-awaited law reform comes into effect.
Finland's Parliament voted in October last year to update the country's 50-year-old legislation on abortion, facilitating better access to the procedure. The reform was passed by a margin of 125-41.
A press release from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health noted the necessity of these amendments in safeguarding a pregnant woman's right to self-determination."
"Under the new law, women will no longer be required to provide reasons for terminating a pregnancy within the first 12 weeks. Their personal choice will be sufficient to obtain a referral."
