Practicing for tomorrow's acoustic set promising to stop torturing myself with .012s and switch to .011s, but after the next string change because I have a fresh set of .012 DR Veritas strings to put on after these ones wear out and these things cost money.

@dave_heumann took my acoustic in for a checkup/setup a couple weeks ago and the guy was momentarily shocked when I told him I use .013s.

@rowjimmy I think heavier strings are great when your objective is to be able to dig into chording and have more dynamic range. Quick and nimble leads, not so much.

@dave_heumann I am neither quick nor nimble.

@rowjimmy So as of last night, it has come to my attention that the bluegrass people all use 13s. I don't know how they do this.
I wonder what gauge BMFS uses. Or Molly T.

@dave_heumann @rowjimmy I just got back from Merlefest where I joined picking circles each night. My fingers are killing me and I can confirm that almost everyone in bluegrass uses .013s (as do I).

@aburtch @dave_heumann @rowjimmy I assume merlefest was super epic?
