blogdiva, 22 days ago i like following the @DorotheaLange bot because it reminds me to look into what LOC has about Puerto Rico's #history. today was reminded of PRERA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rico_Reconstruction_Administration#The_Puerto_Rico_Emergency_Relief_Administration_(PRERA) and of Jack Delano's work in Puerto Rico which was, much like Lange's, to document La Isla's poverty. here's a 1941 pic of sugar cane workers from Río Piedras. notice the woman's shirt. instead of flour sacks, https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/flour-sacks-clothing-wheat/ poor women in #PuertoRico were #sewing clothes from sacks of sugar.
