This whole thing started because my family would always leave lights on and lose their keys…

Now the lights turn themselves on and off, all doors are now keyless, I have control over ALL of it, I know exactly what we are consuming at any given moment, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this amazing software can do!

I will buy NO smart home device that isn’t compatible.

Forget . Forget . Forget . If you’ve got a little tech know-how, get this.

@RockyC
I'm basically going down that rabbit hole now: everything I consider buying I check for HASS compatibility first. It's not a definitive factor, but it carries some weight.

How do you feel about devices that require cloud services for integration?

@badnetmask I avoid them wherever possible. Nobody else needs to know when I turn on a light in my own home.

I’m in the process of replacing my dumb network switch with a managed one so I can put all of my IoT devices on a VLAN and block their Internet access.
