You cannot visit a #LinkedIn page from a #Chrome browser without LinkedIn creating an account based on the #Google account info that you're logged in with on that Chrome browser, even if you cancel the account creation process that LinkedIn automatically starts.

Because you didn't actually create that account, you cannot delete it. You have to complete the signup process just so you can then proceed to delete it.

Does no one at #microsoft challenge this kind of implementation?

Ever since I quit Google I've stopped receiving junk emails, used to come about 10 a day and would end up in promotions folder, or updates, or socials, which google created. Now, I get nothing. Only newsletters, some of which are industry related so I don't mind them.

When you think of the various features of online media -- and how they've had a hand in deforming the information landscape ...

... i.e. procedural ads, algorithmically-sorted newsfeeds, etc ...

... I'm increasingly realizing there's one element that's having a big, malign effect:

Affiliate links

They're a key propellant in the modern eruption of AI-authored, grey-goo "product reviews"

You see that in this terrific Maggie Harrison Dupré piece at Futurism: https://futurism.com/advon-ai-content

Tip: Ignore the premise that they are actually combating each behaviour, and use it instead like a handy Google Search Bingo Card.

It make using search fun.

Given how many trans folks rely on information acquisition via search engines, espeically early on in transition, because they allow natural language queries, increased restriction to information sets a concerning precedent.

I can feel that in 4-5 years there will be some companies going bankrupt because they chose to incooperate #AI into their products.

I feel like #StackExchange has a high chance to fail, the only quality content you have is user submitted and they are turning from that.

There are also things like #Google search which are already declining in quality day-by-day.

I've seen banks replace their FAQ and help search with an AI assistant. Why? This makes me mad.

Meetings lasted from 12pm to nearly 3pm today with only about a 15 minute break between the two.

We internally showed some demos of some awesome things that are coming to @novalauncher in the future.

These are things that have been in the works for quite some time and I can't wait for everyone to see them, use them and talk more about them!

Yup. Digging that Bay Blue on the Pixel 8A.
Looks like we have a decent mid-ranger for North America. A LOT of the perks of owning the nicer Pixel 8, but at a lower price and the compromises don't seem extreme.
Should be a great daily communicator device.

Jack Dorsey is no longer on the board of BlueSky. We're wrapping up the closing arguments in Google's anti-trust case. The Rabbit R1 is an app. Sony's marketing materials for the next XPERIA leak.

And we should probably chat about this next iPad thing-y...

Got a question about . I know has robust privacy settings. I was wondering about the underlying protection of the system from massive data scrapers. Are there underlying protections built into Mastodon to prevent theft of data or the upload of data onto a third party website? On another vein, is there any way to limit your account reach in outside engines like ? Does Mastodon have limited interaction with outside search? Thanks!
