On #Twitter and #Mastodon I’ve always reserved likes/favorites as a form of bookmarking posts. I know there is also a separate functionality for this, but it was a way to have two lists.
I think I’ll revise my behavior and use it freely on any post I like. I’ve already tested it a bit on #BlueskySocial and I guess it makes more sense to appreciate posts even if not retweeting/boosting it.
@alastor8472 That's what I started doing. I will Favorite a post so that way the person knows that someone saw it. It means a lot to the person who posted it even if I don't respond with a message.
A lot of times I will Boost when I feel there is information others might like. I also sometimes Boost when I have personally contributed to a conversation in hopes that others join in the conversation.
