I found this research fascinating, but wonder why this type of research, was not used by the Supreme Court in important cases involving the constitution. I would also like to research the 14th amendment section 3 and the use of "officer of the United States" and "executive of any State" to see who it applies to because it initially does reference the President and VP. Re: the ballot issue.
@cikgusuz@academicchatter@linguistics@elmerot Courts don’t always accept linguistic studies because their methods are not considered as valid as other sciences. That’s why the article describes very few cases in which linguistic corpus analysis was actually used in order to reach a decision. In my opinion, there’s still need for more interdisciplinary studies like this one in our field, in order to prove the validity of this or similar methodologies.

It may be they don't know how data analysis, and it's rigorous vetting of the data, is used in this way to make linguistics valuable for interpreting original views of the Constitution. Or, it could be that they know that not everyone uses perfect English. This is great research and I appreciate you sharing.
