testing,

@emilydingwrites
while i personally find posting to kbin magazines pretty straight forward - unlike @cendawanita - it is true that posting to kbin magazines comes with caveats:

  1. kbin magazines do not boost your post, unlike groups (a.gup.pe, chirp.social, or friendica), but they put a post into a curated and moderated context on a platform which mainly uses threads

  2. either you post directly to a kbin magazine by tagging it, or you add hashtags to your mastodon post which are scraped automatically by a kbin magazine via its tag function > tags employed by a kbin magazine can be found on the respective profile of a kbin magazine

  3. posts from microblogging platforms usually show up in the microblog section of a kbin magazine > i like it because it enhances visibility and searchability of microblog posts - but microblog posts e.g. from mastodon cannot start threads on kbin magazines

  4. if you want to start a thread on a kbin magazine, you either have to make use of the "add an article" function on kbin, i.e. (a) you need a kbin acc, (b) you need to understand that posts and articles are handled differently by kbin, with posts appearing in the microblog section, and articles starting threads, or ... today i learned:

if you have an acc on a friendica instance, it is possible to start threads on kbin magazines: you need to set a title for your post, so that kbin can recognize it as an article > see e.g. https://karab.in/m/test1006

this is not possible on microblogging platforms such as mastodon, pleroma, or the *keys

  1. adding a content warning to e.g. a mastodon post does not help trying to start a thread on a kbin magazine: at the moment, kbin does not display cw's from microblogging platforms - cw's just vanish, and cw'ed posts are showing up in the microblog section of kbin magazines, with cw's having disappeared > see e.g. https://karab.in/m/test1006/microblog

  2. several people advised to tag kbin magazines at the end of a post to ensure that it reaches the tagged kbin magazine > sticking to some good advice is never wrong, and so far, it has worked for me :abunhdhappy:
