Remember when festivals were a fun cheap way to spend an afternoon? I went to an oyster fest a few years ago and it was 25$ to get in and you got 3 food tickets. 6 oysters and a beer was 4 tickets. You could only buy tickets by 5s at $30. Fuck you. Fuck you very much.
Everything is so expensive now and most festivals tend to be hosted in those few spaces that are still free and open to the public. (I say "free" but these are largely publicly funded spaces, so admission has been paid well in advance.)
It's such a crummy barrier to entry, honestly.
If you're going to charge an obscene amount of money for your event, host it at an obscenely expensive venue that is out of everyone else's way, and not encroaching on the other ways they would like to (and can afford to) spend their time.
I'd say it counts ahaha! I've created a few communities to try and mimic the Reddit counterparts to make it easier to transition over (and there's still a lot that I would love to see - although I'd rather let someone else create/mod them than me taking them all before anyone else can).
So this community is by no means an "official" continuation of it, but hopefully it allows more people to find communities that they enjoy :).
