Today I learned FamilyMart has a limit of 30 coins to pay for anything. This is incredibly annoying as I only ever pay in cash for bills that require it, and over years I have attained a bag of coins I need to dispense with.
Legal tender is legal tender, and either it should be accepted or the government should eliminate it.
“Apple Is Trying to Kill the Open Internet!” 😓
Apple has very publicly told you to go fuck yourselves with its malicious compliance. What you do next will decide whether malicious compliance is acceptable in the EU or not.

🎬 Finally, iOS treats all browsers equally when it comes to PWAs. Previously, only Safari was able to install and run PWA apps. With iOS 17.4 beta in the EU, no browser can install PWA apps, even Safari. It seems PWAs have been disabled entirely.
Oh yes, when you set a third-party browser as the default browser and then you delete it, iOS sets Safari as the default browser.
Watch this:
The EU response to this should be simple: Tell Apple it will be barred from trading in the EU unless it commits to implementing EU requirements globally.
Will the EU understand it does not require global jurisdiction in order to have global impact? Let’s wait and see.

New excuse for a new week! "This page transmits information using https protocol. Some vendors cannot receive opt-out requests via https protocols so the processing of your opt-out request is incomplete." (This after the komonews.com page put up a fake modal "updating your preferences" which, let me guess, wouldn't have been a thing if I'd just accepted all.) #MaliciousCompliance
My wife had a 4X6 pride flag on her bulletin board at a bio testing lab. She's a director there, and it's important to her that the gay people who work under her know they are welcome.
Someone from her team, who is very nice to their gay co-worker's face, filed a very general complaint about it.
Naturally, I assumed the person was upset the pride flag was too small. So I made my wife a 12X8 stained glass flag to put in its place.
In what I hope is #MaliciousCompliance a school district in FL is requiring every kid to get a permission slip from their parents if they want to be called by anything other than what's on the school roll chart. (i.e., Bob or Rob instead of Robert)
Additionally, to prevent accidentally using the wrong pronouns, pronouns should be avoided as much as possible (Robert instead of he/him).
"The Court also ruled that colleges and universities may consider in admissions decisions “an applicant’s discussion of how race affected his or her life, be it through discrimination, inspiration, or otherwise.” We will certainly comply with the Court’s decision."
