skygirl,

It’s wild that we have these weird videos that play out when we sleep and people aren’t more interested in them honestly.

I like hearing about people’s dreams!

My wife always tells me her dreams, usually in details. I do not care much but she loves sharing this specific stuff so I am glad to listen to make her happy. Its only a minute of my time.

Also I do not dream much, or maybe just dont remember much of it. Maybe once a month or even less I recall my dream and its usually not that interesting even for me.

On the other hand listening to a dream of a stranger/colleague is when I leave the rome or start ignoring them. Nobody cares.

Keep it interesting and tell the audience your dream was about them. Include them in it somehow.

Juice,

Don’t listen to op I want to hear your dreams. Op smokes mad dope and doesn’t dream and has to compensate for their lack by pretending not to care.

But you have a lot going for you op, its all a part of your charm

People who act like this (pretending to care when a friend is talking about something they are excited to share and then mocking them online to boot) are generally convinced everything they say is exceptional and everyone else needs to listen.

balderdash9,

Sometimes it’s just polite to listen even if you aren’t interested in the subject. Why does Lemmy take memes (even about mundane topics) so seriously?

There’s a difference between kind of internally not being interested, which is totally fine, and going online to mock “friends” as you pretend to care. I’m willing to admit I am probably taking it a little too seriously, but I feel like the more we explain this meme the worse it sounds, and that should say something. The format also contributes to a pretty patronizing tone.

balderdash9,

The format also contributes to a pretty patronizing tone.

Fair enough. It’s hard to anticipate how people will take it because the creator is blinded by whatever tone they originally envisioned. In this case I suppose it doesn’t come across as light-hearted as I intended.

All true as well. Either way no big deal, have a good one!

EvilEyedPanda,

I don’t get why people are like this, I love hearing about people’s dreams, especially the crazy ones.

li10,

Even if you’re not interested, it’s worth bearing in mind that everyone talks a load of bollocks sometimes.

Other people couldn’t care less about some of the stuff you talk about, but you may not know that because they do the polite thing and take an interest.

Anyone who thinks they never bore other people has their head up their arse.

Same, it can be really interesting. I hardly remember my dreams so to hear other people in a way makes up for that.

Bob_Robertson_IX,

I agree, not necessarily that I like hearing about other people’s dreams, but that I think people should be more willing to actively listen when someone talks about their dreams.

I don’t necessarily like hearing other people’s dreams, but I do like talking about my own dreams, so I will listen. While dreams aren’t real, what happens in dreams can effect people because it is still something they experienced, and talking about stressful situations is a great way to let go of any negative feelings associated with the experience.
