Showroom7561,

55 pounds – not exactly lightweight, but still light enough for most able-bodied folks to carry up and down a flight of stairs.

Riiiight. Try lugging 55lbs of awkwardly shaped steel up a narrow staircase. And pray that it’s completely clean when you’re doing it, and that you aren’t carrying anything else with you (a bag, purse, backpack, panniers, etc.)

Folding ebikes are only convenient when they are in storage, not for lugging up stairs.

"The Cube Fold Hybrid blurs the line between a compact cargo bike and a practical commuter bike." it really looks to be to small to be either.

Franzia,

Who is this for? A $3k bike that I bring with me everywhere - where it could be stolen? I’m American though so bike security and taking bikes on busses/trains is a limited luxury, bike parking is completely nonexistent.

crawley,

There already are folding e-bikes, and these things cost over $3,000. A perfect commuter e-bike would cost less than a grand.

Yeah but Cube tho

theskyisfalling,

Are Cube supposed to be good? I’ve always seen them as a trash budget brand.

NotSpez,

They are in my experience always great value for money. My first carbon road bike was made by them and was actually pretty great.

dfz0r,

They are literally being used to ride the tour de france. What made cube great was that their sub €1000 bikes were not trash and quite durable component wise. 10 years ago they offered quality aluminium MTB’s with front suspension and shimano groupsets for €700. Now most premium brands offer quality entry level bikes though. I own 2 cube bikes and they have been going strong for 9 and 5 years with proper home care and one dealer service each year

theskyisfalling,

Ah fair enough, wasn’t trying to shit on them that was just my perspective, happy to change my mind if they are in fact decent quality for the price :)

To be fair a lot of the entry level stuff these days is a lot better than it used to be which I think is great to get more people riding bikes on equipment that won’t just fall apart within a year of use!

From what I’ve heard, yeah, they were supposed to be pretty nice.
