Gave myself an early winter present: A heated vest by Gerbing for the chilly days on the #motorcycle.
Traffic has become more than brutal again after COVID and I'm planning on using the motorcycle through the winter most of the time. We get to lane split here in The Netherlands. It saves about 50% of trip duration during rush hour. ⛄️🏍️
@jorijn@thijsvanulden I have the Gerbing heated gloves, also plugged in to the bike as I didn't feel like paying for yet another battery I have to keep charged. They are great! Never felt the need for other heated clothing, just layering works for me.
I recently heard something about the body drawing heat from the extremities when the core is cold. The theory should be that when the core is warm, the hands and feet don’t suffer as much.
@jorijn@thijsvanulden Interesting! I think I heard that before too, but since I never feel cold on the bike (when dressed properly for the weather) except for my hands, I never connected the dots. Let me know if it works for you!
@jorijn@fschaap@thijsvanulden this is very much true. Keep the core warm and it will send warm blood to the extremities. Obviously personal physiology may still require additional layers elsewhere but practically speaking the best thing to do is to care for the core and the rest will follow.
