As camping season in the northern hemisphere is upon us, I offer my yearly reminder that almost any meal can be encased in a large tortilla, wrapped in foil, frozen, and reheated on a campfire or camp stove.
When you variety-pack a cooler full of homemade frozen "burritos," you have more time to chill by the fire and enjoy the view.
Yay - verified that a #Trangia sealing dispenser valve (for their camping fuel bottles) does indeed fit perfectly on an #MSR fuel bottle.
Getting any Swedish Trangia gear here seems almost impossible, but I've coveted one of these dispenser caps for ages. Saved a few bucks and I get to reuse my MSR bottles by just buying a replacement dispenser cap.
I have a special connection to #WildRiver#StatePark as it's the last place where I went #camping with my beloved #dog Gunnar. Gunnar was truly the best dog ever. He's been gone since March of last year but sometimes the #grief comes on so suddenly that it's like being punched in the gut. I miss him terribly & I treasure my memories of walking through the prairie grass and sitting by the river.
Back in the comfort of home after a rejuvenating 2-day #camping trip.
Sadly, the main #hiking trails at the state park were closed due to recent rains, but a nearby town forest made up with its well designed and marked multi-use trails.
We hiked the entire trails, which was just 7kms but offered great nature. Also, you can see from the map why we were so turned around in the forest that we'd no clue where we were after just minutes inside.
Some more pictures from the 2-day #camping trip at a state park. 👆🏽
Not just wildflowers, lots of wild insects and animals too.
Picture 1: Shot from quite a distance.
3: See video 👇🏽 to truly appreciate the beauty of this caterpillar.
4: I don't know the kind of insect on the right, but it was stalking the caterpillar, which responded by just staying still. Somone, please help me make sense of the impasse these two creatures caused for themselves.
Starting to write the R values on our sleeping pads now that we have apples-to-apples ASTM numbers available. Some of the revised ASTM values are a significant drop from original claimed R values. #camping#backpacking

OpenCampingMap is using OpenStreetMap. This is probably the best way to keep information up to date, because it is easy for all to cooperate.
The wild weather calmed down. In the evening, we found a campspot in a small bay on the deserted beach, next to cucumber greenhouses. The cucumber gardener saw us and immediately brought us a handful of freshly picked cucumbers 🥒 So friendly! (It was the last day of Eid al-Fitr, the celebration after ramadan). He confirmed that we can spend the night here without any worries. We had a very good night there. It was quiet, we felt completely safe and were able to sleep deeply 😴
After another day of cycling 🚵♀️ 🚵♂️ over the hills with amazing views over the coastline 🏞️ and through valleys and bays full of greenhouses, we had to settle for a less idyllic place to sleep. It was noisy, from the busy road nearby, and because of several guys, who had to speed through the park with their motorized vehicles 🛵 🚖 until the early morning hours... At least at one tent side the view to the sea was nice 😎
One day later we where lucky again!
In Anamur we pitched our tent at the end of the long city beach 🏖️ We stood there for totally 3 nights, went for a shower to the open beach-showers 🚿 and relaxed all day long in and around our tent ⛺️
(patched a sleeping pad and was test inflating the cat pounced on one of the baffles, neatly clawing another hole and resulting in patch number 2) #camping#cats
Taking today and tomorrow off from property hunting to do a little hiking and visiting some of my favorite spots. This is Sleeping Ute Mountain in the far SW corner of Colorado My campsite view for this evening. (Phone photo.)
anyone know of a plant identification app that actually works in the spring when the leaves aren’t full adult size? seek isn’t cutting it #hiking#botany#nature#camping
Camp #3: On the far east side of the San Rafael Swell north of Cisco Utah. Saw some great pictographs today! (Stay tune. Will post a little later.) Tomorrow, it's blow through the zoo of Moab and head to the San Juan River. (Phone photo.)
Wow, what a wild night. Total calm until 2am and then the strong winds hit our exposed perch on the mountainside. Not much sleep after that. Winds were more suited to Patagonia than southern Spain.
Good job we had a good tent. If we had a festival tent we would have woken up in Morocco 😀 😂
