Socsa,

It’s always amusing when some CHUD suddenly realizes that the Pentagon is one of the largest single employers in the middle of one of the most liberal places in the country.

disguy_ovahea,

People with graduate degrees are more likely to vote democratic.

Skunk,

I see no beach but there is a photo of a toilet on the Gmap page and that is probably one of the best useless picture I’ve seen of a Gmap business page. Clearly a strong contender with peoples posting selfies taken elsewhere.

JoYo,

Please, there’s at least 100 gay bars near the pentagon and the white house.

Freddie’s is great but only people out of town would assume it’s the only place to hookup in DC.

psmgx,

Yeah tons of stuff in Arlington, like crystal city is right there, or an easy metro ride to DuPont circle.

EmoDuck,

Not to mention to dozens of gay bars in the pentagon and the white house

JoYo,

ah yah the o’le “tip of the spear”

Facebones,

Can confirm, I’m an out of towner and I practically trip over dudes trying to hook up when I go out drinking - and I’m just going to beer places for beer reasons 🤣

mindbleach,
Guntrigger,

Man, this seemed like a nice piece of modern satire, then I see a mention of Mark Messier. 1998!

what’s the implication? There’s lots of gay people working the CIA, and something happneed for them to not go to the gay bar?

Syn_Attck,

Pizza Meter but in the style of NCD. It was largely an urban legend, allegedly, but maybe it being an urban legend is an urban legend.

A guy made a website that monitors restaurant orders in DC, posted a year ago and it’s down now… I wonder if he got a friendly knock and talk or just didn’t want to pay hosting any longer.

atocci,

Yeah, the implication is something is about to happen that the Pentagon is preparing for, and it’s keeping their employees working late and away from the gay bar as a result.

SomeAmateur,

CIA/Pentagon/White House workers have lives. When something big goes down like …oh I don’t know…Iran getting spicy and launching hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel overnight, those lives get disrupted.

People work overtime and order takeout or aren’t able to go out on the town like they normally would so that makes changes to the usual data patterns in the DC area. So they say ramp ups in US military activity can be predicted by detecting those changes.

exocrinous,

Can someone explain this?

nuke,

It’s in reference to the old joke about Pizza being a source for OSINT, with anecdotes of orders increasing around the Pentagon when shits going down

In the 1990s, America believed in the predictive powers of pizza. Online anecdotes abounded: Pizza deliveries to the Pentagon doubled leading up to the Panama invasion at the turn of the decade. When Operation Desert Storm launched in January 1991, the Chicago Tribune published an account of a D.C. pizzeria owner who was able to predict that military action in the region was imminent, thanks to spikes in his sales. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, who was a Pentagon correspondent at the time, supposedly remarked, “Bottom line for journalists: Always monitor the pizzas.”

slate.com/…/the-pizza-meter-was-a-staple-of-1990s…

exocrinous,

So conversely, a drop in activity at a gay bar (which does not deliver to the Pentagon), also means shit is going down?

Sirence,

I assume it means some employees would go there after work (6pm) but they apparently had to work overtime, hence the dip. A lot of people having to do overtime is usually an indicator of something being up.

topinambourrex,

The pentagon has a little hole in the middle.

@verity_kindle@lemmy.world avatar

I demand equity for kabob appreciators. What is the status of the Kabob Palace Guard?

mindbleach,

Sober.

Shit is getting real.

Estiar,

That’s how you measure the Department of the Boat People specifically

CptEnder,

Yeah gotta check the local Michael’s crayon inventory for the Department of Boat People, Angry Land Guys
