What’s everyone playing? Tell us your system and a bit about your current game, if you have one, or, if you don’t, what game you’re looking forward to playing!

I thought it might be nice to set up a thread in which we can recommend game systems to one another. What do you like? Why? Give us a quick blurb about a game you like and why you think others might like it. Maybe call out if you think it would be good for absolute beginners or folks new to the OSR/NSR. Oh and the genre too. If...

One of the best let’s play examples of old school play!
Here I am arguing against the split into the various sub "camps" of current RPG culture. I used to believe in this divide, too, but now I'm convinced the differences are just talked up and don't really exist except as tags, not inherently better or worse than tags such as "solo", "rules lite", "gonzo" and all the other ways of...
Trying to make a West marches campaign and trying to figure out what I should do for a starting town. Im currently reading through keep on the borderlands but that feels like a lot to keep track of, it’s really good so far tho. What should a town in a West marches campaign even have in it?
Hello there! I've been OSR-curious for a few years now. I like sandbox games where the dice decide reactions, weather, random encounters, etc because that keeps things interesting even for the GM. Incidentally, it also works great for solo play which I like....
Hey all,...
This was posted to my forums and I thought it was an important enough topic to deserve more attention:...
Here’s a direct link to Free League’s store....
Hey gang, I saw that we’ve got over 175 folks subscribed to the community (small steps for mankind but giant steps for us) and we’re now the third largest community on Lemm.ee!...
Anybody take a look or already tried it?
I typically just by the PDF, print it, and then make a custom cover for it. It may look very polished, but the jankiness makes it all the more special to me. Anyone else do this?
I saw this posted on Mastodon. It’s an interesting listen. If you were thinking about using the ORC license, it may give you pause.
Chris McDowall, of Bastionland and Into The Odd fame, did a livestream covering a lot of his favorite blogs, some I knew of and a few of which I didn’t. Thought it might be of value to the community....
I've never actually run any of the old modules like Keep on the Borderlands or anything like that. I'm much more used to homebrewing a setting entirely or at most grabbing a few elements from a published adventure (I took a bunch from Willow, for example). I think this is why most of my favorite systems tend to be more in the...
Saw this posted to Mastodon and I thought it was worth sharing.
New blog post by Leo Hunt on the Vaults of Vaarn blog:...
In the 30’s people believed there was a network of caves under Los Angeles inhabited with Lizard People....
Had a cool idea for a mountain with hermits on it that get struck by lightning in order to cast it as a spell but I’m not sure how to build a setting around that idea.
Guess the Orcs got hungry?...
I pledged the Knave 2e Kickstarter and I can't wait for the early pdf to drop. Is anybody else waiting for Knave or maybe another game to drop? It is always interesting to be actually waiting for something as opposed to using my musty old tomes lol.
