59th Street Bridge, NYC, 2019.

Also known as the Queensborough Bridge and, more officially, the Ed Koch Bridge. Whatever you call it, it's groovy.

This is the classic, almost cliche, view of the 59th Street Bridge. The same vantage point, at 58th Street just east of Sutton Place, was used in Woody Allen's exceptionally problematic (but still beautifully photographed) Manhattan.

But this once pristine view is becoming increasingly cluttered as development on Roosevelt Island continues. I remember once having a clear view from here of the Big Allis power plant, whose smokestacks are still barely visible above the high rise apartments.

I use a bit of toning (mostly a warm sepia as here) for maybe half my photos. Sometimes a straight B&W can look a bit cold, especially when rendered on a monitor. It just depends on the subject, and it's a very subjective decision I make on a case-by-case basis after I've finished all the other post processing and looked at a work print on paper. Some people have strong opinions about toning, but I'm not one them.

@mattblaze I don't get the controversy unless it's something like toning Ansel Adams' photos. I don't use a one-size-fits all processing for anything but snapshots, so why would I treat black-and-white the same? (And speaking of Adams, his camera choice, lens, exposure, film stock, and dark room process were thoroughly customized to the photograph.

@kingtor I'd certainly never tone someone ELSE'S photos. It's a creative decision for the photographer.
