I— Wow! I'm beside myself looking at this image. It never occurred to me that a soap bubble could freeze, but I see the rainbow swirl on the sphere, so it must be. (I live in sunny warm southern California.) I may use this in a story...

Yes, it does freeze - have plenty of images-, the temp has to be below 20F, colder than 32F where water freezes. It’s very rare around here to have this cold (Seattle area), but this year we had 2-3 mornings when I had a chance to experiment.

I'm filing the data away as I am sure it will prove evocative one day in a story. As an avid photographer, I can appreciate the eldritch quality of the shot. It's makes me recall the reflective steel statue pictures I took that I over saturated so the reflections look like paint instead of the surrounding scenery. Best of luck with that project.
