Well, this old CFL bulb is (finally!) going to the bin. I know that LEDs are just better, and it's getting replaced with one, but I have too many fixtures with still perfectly functional lights, and I don't replace them until they're busted. 😬
CFLs, despite the upgrade, are still old fluorescent technology, which reminds me of a popular @pinoy#TallTale ...
... from a book in grade school, claiming that the fluorescent lamp was invented by a @pinoy inventor named "Agapito Flores", hence "Fluorescent" -- tho I never asked why the spelling was different.
Guinomis is a relative of the @pinoy's favorite refreshment, Halo-halo -- but with simpler ingredients: sago pearls, gulaman (carrageenan), pinipig (green glutinous rice, pounded flat and then toasted) and gata (coconut milk), some sweetener, and shaved ice.
Well, I (almost) always take mine black but it's 미숫 (misu) a traditional Korean beverage made from 미숫가루 (misugaru) , a powder made from several grain types.
Some refer to it as a multi-grain shake or a meal replacement, but it's like breakfast in a cup you can make in a jiffy.
First noted in historical court records in the 1300s, and originally made with a single grain, they're now usually made with 7-15 different types of grain.
It's naturally low in calories, though some add sweeteners to it, and convenient to make.
My #Converge service is back, after being down for more than 24h. :mastozany:
Their hotline was useless. The IVR validates your account, then a recording will tell you the that their service is indeed down in your area, without saying when to expect services to be restored, then call is terminated.
My backup SIM from @pinoy#GoMo saved the day. It's pay-as-you-go with cheap data rates, credits don't expire, while the SIM itself may expire after a year of inactivity.
@gowin It's more of a service, probably for prepaid subs, same number mgssubscribe lang thru their GigaLife app. I only subscribe to the 99pesos for 2GB. They also have Magic Data+, with call minutes and sms included.
@pinoy
Shopee's return service actually sucks? I have yet to contact the seller but I can't use the dedicated service if it's outside the Shopee Gurantee Period which ends after you receive the item as if defect never show themselves (in my case, my wireless mouse stopped functioning after a couple of weeks of light use)
@mesakeith@pinoy since you mentioned a wireless mouse, I've had a decent experience with Logitech's Lift. A bit pricy at nearly ₱4k but using it for more than 5 months and dropped it a few times, it seems reliable. I've yet to replace the battery as it seems to use low energy tech. For a cheaper option Delux seems reasonable but I haven't used their mice yet. However, I own their ergonomic GM902Pro and haven't had issues with it but needs time to get that muscle memory going.
@Chickengod@pinoy Thanks for the recomendations though that's way too over my budget. I did have great experience with Logitech though, my last one was their cheaper model that lasted ages (reference: it still bears their older logo). Gone through countless abuse and only recently broke the receiver from my fault.
Just needed some quick replacement so I bought whatever's cheap but a less than a month is not acceptable.
Apparently, #Marikina has their own take on luncheon meat, they call "Everlasting," which I never heard of before.
If folktales are to be believed, they last "forever," or until they're finally consumed, 😅 without the need for refrigeration. Also said to be a popular dish during community feasts.
The folks who gave it to me, described them as similar to embutido, but the mouth feel is closer to home-made luncheon meat.
Also, those pans (locally called "llaneras") they use are probably more associated with leche flan (a.k.a. flan de leche, our own crème caramel dessert)
Haha. You need experience. I don't trust my smell when it comes to expired food… if it is not within my range of good taste/smell, it's “panis” in my mind. LOLs.
And whenever I'm eating a local food and it smells that way, I always had to apologise. 🤣 “It's my nose, not your food.”
Sayang ang K-12. For me, we need to focus K-12 to specific goals.
For example:
Grades 1 to 3: reading.
Grades 4 to 6: They can choose one foreign language while learning Philippine English. History and health.
Grades 7 to 9: More focus on STEM, and research methodologies.
Grades 10 to 12: Review of everything they learned from Grade 1. While at the same time, learning a few important college-level information or subject.
There should be no military training in the K-12 levels, other than COCC and CAT. (The usual Grades 9 and 10.) It is more than enough to teach students about hierarchy and following orders.
Military training should be separated from education. I see something like this:
Military training is for ages 18 to 30 only.
It is optional. Those who won't choose it have to take a similar length training, for example, in community service, disaster response, as a fire volunteer, and so on.
If an individual is still actively at Grade 12, they are not obligated. They should only “report” after.
This way, an individual can choose when they can “report”. They have until 30 years old to do it, non-compliance would mean a heavy fine, or a court case, or maybe forced to report.
The only reason I can think of why they want to add back ROTC in Grades 11 and 12 is because not everyone decides to pursue college, or they leave the country after graduating. And they want everyone to receive military training.
If we make it mandatory (military or the other choices) by age, then any Filipino citizen is guaranteed to undergo it. Students can focus on their studies, or find a job first to help their families.
Or, they can choose the other non-military options which probably rarely interferes with their studies (college for example) or job.
In short, I think by overhauling the K-12 program, and re-focusing the curriculum, and removing ROTC, students can focus on their studies.
And since we are not at war and it is not mandated by our current constitution, there should be other options other than ROTC.
Right now, the way I see it, K-12 was simply an addition of two grade levels and the curriculum is still the same old system. There are even schools given freedom to teach whatever they want.
"pare", a @pinoy contraction of the Spanish "compadre", the traditional baptismal godfather , is apparently becoming a gender neutral term for younger folks.
And here's #Eraserheads's now classic song: Pare Ko
