Yes, the 1st three cars made it through the yellow, but they'll be at a red light soon enough. The whole racing to stop / thrill of sailing through a green light thing, though, maybe the curb lanes are bus/turn-only but the last block before major intersections is bus-only, with yellow and then red lights only coming on to stop traffic entering the roundabout while the bus goes through... how much would that save us on traffic signal operation costs? We could build this overnight.

Notice how many people are driving in the middle lanes rather than the curb lanes? That probably gets messy when someone wants to turn left, but I bet people avoid doing that where there's not a signal to support it. Again, roundabouts could be approximated with some barrels.

@enobacon I misread this as SF Cesar Chavez at first. We also have a stroad named for the man (unworthy of its namesake).

@scott the librarian killed at a bus stop by/with a drunk driver was about 8 blocks to my right. The neighborhoods are pretty dense all through this area, so there are many turns in and out from all directions, many unmarked crosswalks, mostly without signals. IMO they should reduce the posted speed and make the outer lanes bus/turn-only until they figure out how to pay for anything else, but PBOT wants $50M and an excuse to pour some concrete medians or something.
