According to Wikipedia, Garth Brooks is a longtime supporter of gay rights. He won a GLAAD award in 1993 for his song "We Shall Be Free". He sang a duet with George Michael at a benefit concert organised by Human Rights Watch in 2000.
I didn't know this. Country musicians are typically perceived as conservative, but people like Brooks and Dolly Parton are not in that mould.
I remember reading years ago that a lot of queer seniors were being forced to go back into the closet if they wanted to receive care. So it was a joy to read in this article that there was a queer friendly nursing home.
Times are tough lately, but it is so good to see how we still persist.
Never know, it might take off. Eventually. I didn't follow that sub, but then I'm not going back to R anyway. So sure, here I am. Better late than never.
