@evan I wonder what the overlap is between selected directions, and where in relation to their continent / country / other geographically significant feature your followers live.
@evan wow. 3 of my picks from the first polls made it to the finals, making this hard.
I wanted to go with North which is The Red Road in native culture representing faith that the sun will return to rise again in the east. But decided to settle on Northeast because that's the way my window faces. lol.
@evan You get warm sun streaming in the windows in winter, warming the house when you want to get up, you get plenty of natural light throughout the day, and you don't get the worst of the afternoon sun heating your house in summer. This is assuming correct overhangs to keep the summer daytime sun from hitting the floors inside.
@evan It is probably better to say south eastern Australia rather than the whole southern hemisphere. There are going to be some latitudes where a different option may be preferable, but the principle works over a large range.
Then it's just a matter of tree placement and other greenery to adjust the microclimate around the house.
And of course, good passive solar design of the house itself.
First, "North by Northwest" isn't a real direction! The closest equivalent is "Northwest by North".

@evan digging deeper into this and taking location, bias, scale of thinking would be so interesting. i first thought about my hometown, then in the second bracket i thought about Asia (continent)
@evan hmmm... is this like one of those surveys that tries to get you to cough up your DOB or security question answers through a series of indirect questions?
